What makes a caravan a family caravan
A family caravan is one with permanent bunks, a layout that gives the kids somewhere to be that isn’t on top of the parents, and enough storage to carry three weeks of clothes, sport gear and school holiday extras. The bones underneath are the same as a couples caravan. The interior is what changes.
The features that matter most:
- Permanent triple bunks for families of five, double bunks for families of four
- A separate kids’ end with its own door, so the bunks are sealed off from the main living area
- A bathroom big enough to actually use, with a separate shower
- Enough fresh water capacity that you’re not hand-washing kids by day three
- Interlocking furniture screwed to the structural frame, designed for the demands of unsealed and corrugated roads and family touring
How Titanium does family
The family floor plans across the range are built on the same chassis platform as our couples layouts and the same off-grid kit. The difference is the interior fit-out.
- S2, S3 and S4 have the broadest family floor plan range, from East-West bunks through to triple bunks and the 236 King Quad layout for the biggest families
- TS1 sleeps six adults with four fold-up Wolf Fabrication bunks in the rear garage, designed for families with older kids who ride bikes or kayaks
- CS1 is the composite family layout, available in family floor plans with a one-piece composite roof and a higher ceiling than the older bunk-style vans
Every model carries the standard off-grid kit, so the same caravan that gets you to a remote campsite also keeps the kids fed, washed and powered through the school holidays without a powered site.
Who buys a family caravan
The families we work with tend to be:
- Two-parent families with two to four kids, looking for a van they’ll keep for ten years across the school years
- Families upsizing from a camper trailer or pop-top because the kids are too tall for the bunks they have now
- Three-generation trips where grandparents come along, where the TS1’s garage-mode bunks give two extra adults somewhere to sleep
- Buyers who want a van designed to stand up to years of family touring
The same off-road platform sits under every family caravan in the range. See our off-road caravans for the chassis side. For the power and water capacity that makes long holidays possible, see our off-grid caravans. If your kids are old enough to ride bikes, take a look at the toy hauler caravans for the TS1’s garage configuration.
Off-road capability refers to suitability for unsealed and corrugated roads. Use in extreme or technical 4WD conditions may fall outside the intended design and void the warranty. See warranty document for details.

One-Piece Fibreglass Composite Panel Roof
The one-piece fibreglass composite roof typically insulates better than a framed roof, because the insulation covers the full panel rather than leaving the gaps you get around frame members.
