Hybrid Caravans

What makes a hybrid caravan
A hybrid caravan sits between a full-height van and a camper trailer. The hybrid pop-top has a lower travel height that drops down for towing, then lifts on hard-wall sides at camp for full standing room. The hybrid hard-top is a full-height van with a hybrid’s chassis profile and weight, sized to tow easily behind a mid-range 4WD without sacrificing the interior.
Either way, you get:
- A lower tow height than a full van, which helps fuel economy and stability on tracks
- A real caravan interior with a proper kitchen, bathroom and bedroom
- The same Cruisemaster XT Airbag suspension and chassis platform as the rest of the Titanium range
- The same off-grid capacity as our larger models, scaled to size
Hybrids are popular with couples buying their first off-road caravan, families who want a smaller footprint, and anyone whose tow vehicle is too small for a full-size touring rig.
How HS1 and HS2 differ
Both models share the same chassis platform, the same off-grid kit, the same Australian build. The difference comes down to size, layout options and the standard inclusions list.
HS1 is the entry hybrid. Available in 15’6, 17’6 and 19’6 lengths, in either pop-top or hard-top form. Couples and family floor plans. The HS1 is built for buyers who want a tightly specified premium hybrid without the larger model’s footprint.
HS2 is the premium hybrid. Larger interior volume, an upgraded standard inclusions list, and more layout flexibility through the 18’6 and 19’6 sizes. Designed for buyers who want a hybrid with the touring credentials of our larger off-road caravans.
Who buys a hybrid caravan
Hybrids tend to suit:
- First-time off-road caravan buyers who want a premium build without committing to a full-size van
- Couples whose tow vehicle is a mid-range 4WD rather than a 200-Series LandCruiser
- Families with younger kids who don’t need permanent triple bunks yet
- Anyone storing the van at home where height clearance under a carport matters
If a hybrid feels too small once you’ve thought it through, our off-road caravans range has the larger S series and TS1. If your priority is touring without plugging in, take a look at our off-grid caravans for the higher-spec models. Looking specifically at family layouts? See our family caravans range for triple bunks and full bunk fit-outs.
Off-road capability refers to suitability for unsealed and corrugated roads. Use in extreme or technical 4WD conditions may fall outside the intended design and void the warranty. See warranty document for details.
