Caravan Loan Calculator
Balloon payment and fees
About this estimate. The indicative rate of 6.40% p.a. was last reviewed on 16 October 2026. The estimate leaves out any fees you haven't added, plus stamp duty, registration, insurance, delivery and on-road costs. A balloon lowers your regular repayments, but the full balloon is due at the end of the term and you pay interest on it the whole time. The rate you're offered, your repayments and whether you're approved depend on a lender's assessment of your circumstances.

How caravan finance works
A caravan loan is usually a secured loan, where the caravan is the lender's security. You borrow the price less any deposit or trade-in, then repay it weekly, fortnightly or monthly over a set term.

Balloon payments
A balloon is a lump sum you agree to pay at the end of the loan. It makes each repayment smaller, but you pay interest on the balloon for the whole term and the loan costs more overall. Only choose one if you're confident you'll have the money when it falls due. How big a balloon you can have depends on the lender and the loan term.
Before you apply
- Compare quotes on their comparison rate, because it includes most fees.
- Check whether the rate is fixed or variable.
- Ask which fees apply at the start of the loan and each month.
- Get a pre-approval to find out what a lender is likely to lend before you order.
